Real-Time Tier Updates

When customers make purchases or earn points, their tier status is updated automatically.

What Happens When Points Change

Tier updates follow a three-step internal process:

  1. Points Update: Both the current tier points and the carry tier points increase (or decrease).
  2. Tier Recalculation: The system checks if the new points qualify the customer for a different tier.
  3. Tier Change (if applicable):
    • Customer's tier is updated to the new level.
    • The change date is recorded.
    • Tier Status Changed notification is sent to the customer.
    • The customer's digital wallet pass is automatically updated.

Example: Customer Upgrades Tier

A customer is Bronze with 800 Tier Points. They make a purchase worth 500 points.

After Purchase: Their Tier is updated to Silver because 1,300 points $\ge$ 1,000 points. The customer receives a notification: "Congratulations! You've reached Silver status!".

JeriCommerce automatically notifies customers when their tier status changes.

When the Notification is Sent

The notification is triggered in two specific scenarios:

  • Upgrade: Immediately when a customer upgrades to a higher tier through purchases.
  • Recalculation Change: During the annual Recalculation process if the customer’s tier changes (either up or down).

What Customers Receive

When a notification is triggered, customers may receive:

  • A Push notification (if enabled) to their digital wallet.
  • An updated wallet pass showing the new tier status.
  • An optional email notification (based on your program settings).

The default message is: "Your status level has changed, you're now {{tierStatus}}".

What Does NOT Trigger Notifications

The system will not send a notification in the following cases:

  • Points earned that do not change the customer's tier level.
  • Recalculation that maintains the customer's same tier status.
  • Points removed for reward redemptions (since these actions do not affect tier status).
